How it works

  1. Cubic yards = length × width × (depth ÷ 12) ÷ 27.
  2. Most bagged mulch is sold in 2 cu ft bags — 13.5 bags per cubic yard.
  3. Spread 2–3 inches for weed control; 3–4 inches for paths.

Example: A 20 × 10 ft bed at 3 inches needs 1.85 cubic yards — 25 bags of 2 cu ft.
